LA Opera presents Celebración de las Artes on December 14
(Los Angeles) November 17, 2025 — On Sunday, December 14, 2025, LA Opera will present its third annual Celebración de las Artes, a free afternoon festival celebrating Latino culture. Highlights of the Celebración, which is a collaboration between LA Opera Connects and Hispanics for LA Opera, will include a holiday market featuring local vendors, live music and dance, and a curated menu of food and drinks for purchase.
The event, which is free to attend and open to everyone, will take place on December 14 from 4:30pm to 7pm (immediately following the company's matinee performance of La Bohème) on the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center, located at 135 N. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012.
Featured musical performers will include Boleros With Attitude, LA Opera Connects' Zarzuela Project, the Cathedral Children's Chorus and Cathedral Youth Choir, and Mariachi Elapatlán.
"LA Opera Connects and Hispanics for LA Opera are proud to present Celebración de las Artes, a vibrant gathering designed to honor the power of art, music, and community," said Mónica Gutiérrez Roper, Chair of Hispanics for LA Opera. "The Celebración will feature live performances, interactive art-making stations, and diverse artistry. With Celebración de las Artes, we are extending an invitation: to share in joy, to engage, and to reaffirm our collective strength as a community."
"The Celebración de las Artes embodies what LA Opera strives for every day—creating opportunities for our entire community to come together and celebrate the many ways opera connects with other art forms and cultures," said Christopher Koelsch, President & CEO of LA Opera. "It’s a joyful reminder that opera doesn’t exist apart from our city, but within it—alive in its people, its traditions, and its boundless creativity."

About the Performers
Boleros With Attitude is a Los Angeles–based band that represents a new generation of musical talent reviving vintage Bolero songs popularized in the 1940's during the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. Their performances highlight the timeless beauty of the genre while still connecting across cultures and generations.
LA Opera Connects' Zarzuela Project offers community members the chance to learn how to sing and perform Spanish-language musical theater alongside our experienced teaching artists. Our members are thrilled to share exciting zarzuela scenes and beloved holiday classics, and all are welcome to sing along
The Cathedral Children's Chorus (open to all children from 3rd to 8th grade) and the Cathedral Youth Choir (open to all youth from 7th to 12th grade) sing at various masses and events at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels throughout the year. They are excited to present a program full of holiday favorites.
Mariachi Elapatlán is a student group from the East LA Performing Arts Magnet at Esteban Torres High School in East Los Angeles. The group was formed during the 2023/24 school year and is dedicated to playing varied mariachi styles including son jalicience, bolero, ranchera and other regional Mexican styles.
