LA Opera presents Patti LuPone in concert
The Broadway icon returns to Los Angeles with Matters of the Heart
(Los Angeles) January 26, 2026 — On February 21, 2026, LA Opera will present three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone in her critically acclaimed theatrical concert Matters of the Heart.
With the launch of her tour this month, Ms. LuPone celebrates the 25th anniversary of the show's Broadway engagement at the Beaumont Theatre. Matters of the Heart is based on her CD recording of the same name, which was released in 1999 and named one of the best recordings of the year by both The Times of London and Time Out/NY. Ms. LuPone went on to perform the show in London’s West End and on tour nationally and internationally.
In Matters of the Heart, Ms. LuPone takes the audience on an exploration of the crimes, affairs, and mysteries of the heart, with electrifying performances of more than two dozen love songs ranging from Broadway favorites to works by today’s top contemporary songwriters. Conceived and directed by Scott Wittman, the evening features musical direction by Joseph Thalken. Original arrangements are by Dick Gallagher, with additional arrangements by Joseph Thalken. The show was written by John Weidman with additional material by Jeffrey Richman. Ms. LuPone will be joined by The Four Play String Quartet.
Patti LuPone's Matters of the Heart will be presented at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, located at 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
