Are you enthusiastic about live performance and exceptional patron experiences? LA Opera is looking for friendly and reliable part-time Ushers to support our LA Opera Off Grand and LA Opera Connects programs across various venues in the Los Angeles area.

This is a seasonal, part-time position with shifts scheduled intermittently throughout the year. The role pays $20/hour.

Please note: Our Ushers are not based at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion opera house but at a variety of performance and program venues throughout LA.

What You'll Do
As an Usher, you'll be an essential part of our audience’s experience. You will:

  • Welcome and assist patrons, helping them find their seats and navigate the venue.
  • Distribute programs and other event materials.
  • Provide accurate information and handle questions with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Monitor audience safety and ensure house rules are followed.
  • Support guests with access needs using established procedures.
  • Respond appropriately in case of emergency following established protocols.
  • Maintain a polished and professional appearance at all times.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals with:

  • Prior experience in guest services, front-of-house, or similar roles.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • A calm, helpful attitude, even under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining attentive and proactive.

Physical requirements include:

  • Standing for long periods.
  • Repeatedly climbing stairs.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. and assisting with furniture setup.
  • Navigating ramps, inclines, and uneven surfaces.

Experience with life safety or emergency response is a plus.
