I had an active membership as of March 2020. What happened to the month(s) left on my membership?
Not to worry! We put your membership on pause, while the stage was dark. In late September 2021, we mailed all members new membership cards for the 2021/22 season. Didn't receive yours? Please contact our team at 213.972.7277 or friends@laopera.org, and we'll re-send it right away.

I made a donation since March 2020. How does that affect membership benefits?
First, thank you for your generous support. If you had a current membership as of March 2020, your gifts were added to that membership, and you will receive member benefits at the corresponding level for the entire 2021/22 Season. First-time donor? Didn't have a membership as of March 2020? You'll receive a 12-month membership with an expiration date based on the date of your first gift.

How will I receive event invitations?
Invitations to most member events are sent by email. Want to make sure we have the most up-to-date email address on file? Contact us at 213.972.7277 or friends@laopera.org.

When will I receive my dress rehearsal invitation?
Dress rehearsal invitations are sent once a year (in July) by email and mail.  

Where can I use my member card discounts?
You can find a full list of businesses that offer discounts to Friends of LA Opera members by visiting LAOpera.org/ClubCard.

When will I receive an invitation to the behind-the-scenes tour?
We send invitations via email several times a year. Haven't heard from us? Contact us at 213.972.7277 or friends@laopera.org for a list of upcoming tour dates.

How do I access the Allegro Lounge?
September 2021 Update: The Allegro Lounge has temporarily moved outside and is located along the Grand Avenue Colonnade on the Orchestra level (1st floor).

The Allegro Lounge is located in the Eva & Marc Stern Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion during LA Opera mainstage performances. If you’re an Affiliate-level member or above, all you need to do is show up! Your name will be on the list—just check in with the attendant. Have a guest pass? Just provide your pass to the lounge attendant and you're all set.

Can I bring a guest to member events?
Most member events include an invitation for two people. We encourage you to check the specific event invitation for more details.

When will I receive my member card?
We'll have your member card printed and in the mail within a few days of having received your generous donation.

How do I replace a lost/stolen member card?
We’re happy to send you a replacement card in the event yours has been lost or stolen. Contact us at 213.972.7277 or friends@laopera.org.

When will my membership expire?
LA Opera memberships become effective immediately and last twelve months, starting from the month in which you make your first donation. So if you make a gift in June, your membership will expire on May 31 of the next year.

When can I renew my membership?
The renewal period for LA Opera memberships is within three months of your expiration date. You can always renew early—just make sure to add a note with your gift. You can also make an additional gift to upgrade your membership at any time, and you’ll get the benefits of your new membership level until your initial expiration date.

How can I change my membership details?
If your membership doesn’t look quite right, just give us a call or email and we'll be happy help. Contact us at 213.972.7277 or friends@laopera.org.

Can I upgrade my membership level?
You can upgrade your membership anytime by making an additional gift. You’ll enjoy the benefits of your new membership level until your current membership's expiration date.

Is my contribution fully tax-deductible?
Any donation under the amount of $2,000 is fully tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. (For gifts of $2,000 or more, the fair market value of certain benefits received may reduce the tax-deductibility of your contribution. A printed receipt with more details will be mailed to you.) To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your donation receipt as your official record.
