Our 2025/26 Mid Season Recap

The New Year brings a lot of excitement for the new, but it's also a perfect time to reflect on what has passed.  While we can't wait to see an Egyptian pharaoh come back to life in Akhnaten,   watch the misadventures of a bumbling knight in Falstaff,  or be whisked away on a fantastical journey in The Magic Flute,  we also want to take a moment to reflect on the stories and music that whisked us away so far. With our season halfway over, let's take a look back at the shows that helped to make this year special.

WEST SIDE STORY

"Brimming with theatrical energy and verse...Zambello keeps the action fast-paced, clear, and vivd."-Parterre.com

Since its premiere in 1957, Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story  has not just been considered a Broadway classic but an essential part of the American music canon as a whole. We had the pleasure of being able to present Francesca Zambello's lively production as our first ever production of this iconic show, showcasing it in all the grandeur it demands.

HILDEGARD

From the premiere of a beloved classic to the world premiere of a brand new opera.  Hildegard   is the newest opera from Sarah Kirkland Snider who has been described by Pitchfork   as "One  of the decade's most gifted, up-and-coming modern classical composers."  The opera  tells the story of the first known women composer in history, the German abbess known as  Hildegard von Bingen,   offering  a spiritual and emotional look into her life and relationships.

LA BOHÈME

A "warmly cinematic staging [with] attention to historical details that capture a Paris just entering the modern age but retaining a romantic glow."-LA Times

One of the most beloved operas of all time was put back on our stage with one of our most beloved productions. This  production of  La Boheme,   which was originally directed by filmmaker Herbert Ross, premiered  in 1993 and has now appeared on our stage eight times. We couldn't think of a better opera to send us off into the holiday season with than Puccini's iconic masterpiece presented in all its lushness.
