Lucinda Chiu
A Hong Kong native raised in Los Angeles, Lucinda Chiu was appointed as a first violinist of the LA Opera Orchestra by Music Director James Conlon in 2017. She regularly appears with the Houston Symphony, Pacific Symphony, and has performed on stages such as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. She can be heard on numerous soundtracks for films, music albums, and video games recorded at studios such as Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, EastWest Studios, and Hollywood Scoring.
In 2016-17, Lucinda traveled to Mediterranean Europe, Mexico and Central America with the resident piano quintet on Holland America Line through its partnership with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. She has appeared as a guest artist at La Jolla Summerfest and is on the faculty of the New Mexico Music Festival and Orchestral Academy. As a dedicated teacher, she also maintains a private teaching studio with students of all ages and levels.
Lucinda holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory and a Master of Music degree from Rice University, where she was the recipient of multiple scholarships and fellowships. Summer festivals include the Music Academy of the West, Madeline Island Chamber Music (Emerging Artists Quartet-In-Residence), Spoleto Music Festival, Juilliard String Quartet Seminar and Robert Mann String Quartet Seminar. During her studies, she worked closely with Keng-Yuen Tseng, Soovin Kim, Violaine Melancon, and world-renown soloist Cho-Liang Lin.
She is the proud owner of a violin made by Joseph Curtin in 2019.
