JJ Lopez
Mexican-American tenor JJ Lopez made his Walt Disney Concert Hall solo debut in Handel’s Messiah in 2017, and he was recently the soloist for the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s season-opening concert of Bruckner’s Mass in F Minor. He is a principal artist with the LA Opera education program and made his LA Opera mainstage debut in 2019 in El Gato Montés. Most recently, Mr. Lopez was praised by Opera News for his performance of Rodolfo in Pacific Opera Project’s La Bohème.
Mr. Lopez was the Festival Artist for the Taos Opera Institute as well as the Utah Opera Music Festival, with roles including Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Alfredo in La Traviata, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Foresto in Attila, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Frantz and Spalazani in The Tales of Hoffmann, the Dancing Master in Ariadne auf Naxos, and the Dean of the Faculty in Cendrillon. He was a district winner and a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition.
Mr. Lopez holds both bachelor of music and master of music degrees from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.
