Michele Siqueiros
Michele Siqueiros is the founding CEO of The LA Local, a nonprofit newsroom building a new model for community-centered journalism across Los Angeles County. Born and raised in Los Angeles and the daughter of immigrants, Michele has spent more than 20 years driving transformational change, from securing billions in state funding to advance equity in higher education to building the civic infrastructure Los Angeles communities deserve.
Under her leadership, The LA Local has grown to serve 10 neighborhoods and the city of Long Beach, reaching 1.5 million residents with trusted, community-rooted news. The organization trains the next generation of diverse journalists, engages community members as civic accountability reporters and partners with 24 media outlets to ensure more voices shape the stories told about Los Angeles.
Michele believes independent journalism is not a luxury—it is power. When communities tell their own stories, they help shape their own futures.
