Dan Guerrero
Dan Guerrero began his eclectic career in New York, where he moved at age 20 from East Los Angeles to pursue a career in musical theater. He performed Off-Broadway, in regional theater, summer stock and cabaret revues, including one that took him to the Nixon White House for a special performance.
He later became a theatrical agent with clients in the original casts of countless Broadway musicals, from A Chorus Line to Cats, representing Tony Award winners and future Hollywood stars. He returned home to Los Angeles for an equally successful career as a casting director for stage and television before turning his talents to producing and directing.
Guerrero enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an award-winning producer of diverse programming for network and cable television in both English and Spanish, including the PBS special Concert of the Americas, co-produced with Quincy Jones for President Clinton's Summit of the Americas in Miami. He also directed live arts and culture concert events at such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and the Cité de la Musique in Paris.
He remains close to his Eastside roots and serves on the Vincent Price Art Museum Foundation Board at East Los Angeles College and the Advisory Board of the Neighborhood Music School in Boyle Heights. He participates in panel discussions for arts and cultural organizations and served on the Cultural Advisory Council for the feature film Coco.
Guerrero has been recognized for his activism and career achievements by the California State Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the California State Assembly and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, in addition to industry honors that include an Imagen Award, an Honorary Local Emmy Award and an ALMA Award nomination. The Los Angeles City Council also proclaimed Dan Guerrero Day in recognition of his artistic contributions to the city.
