Does your community choir or student orchestra want to be a part of this epic production?

The Community Opera always includes hundreds of community singers and student orchestra members performing alongside professional musicians, brought together under the baton of Resident Conductor Lina González-Granados. Pretty amazing, right? We can't wait for you to experience the beautiful music we'll create, together.

The community will come together for two free performances of The Three Women of Jerusalem (Las tres mujeres de Jerusalén) on Saturday, May 1, 2027, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

La Community Opera siempre incluye a cientos de cantantes de la comunidad y miembros de orquestas estudiantiles, que actúan junto a los músicos profesionales, bajo la dirección de Lina González-Granados, nuestra Conductora Residente. Es fantástico, ¿verdad? Estamos ansiosos de que puedan disfrutar de la hermosa música que crearemos, juntos. Desplaza hacia abajo para ver el horario completo.

Check out this episode of our Behind the Curtain podcast, where composer Carla Lucero sits down with early childhood development specialist Dr. Nita Baxani and conductor Mercedes Juan Musotto to discuss what this opera means to her and why performing together with your community supports physical and mental health.

COMMUNITY CHOIR

Open to churches, schools, or any non-professional singing group, the Community Choir features up to 300 participants who sing the chorus music. They also are the backbone for the congregational hymns, inspiring the audience to sing with all the performers.

CORO COMUNITARIO

Abierto a iglesias, escuelas o cualquier grupo de canto no profesional, el coro comunitario incluye hasta 300 participantes que interpretan la música de coro. También forman la columna vertebral de los himnos congregacionales, inspirando al público a cantar junto a los intérpretes.

STUDENT ORCHESTRA

The student orchestra members are invited to play side-by-side with members of the LA Opera Orchestra. Open only to youth orchestras (high school and younger), this is a unique opportunity for students to experience being a part of a mainstage opera orchestra. Space at the Cathedral is limited, which necessarily means the number of players is limited.

ORQUESTA ESTUDIANTIL

Los miembros de la orquesta estudiantil están invitados a tocar junto a los miembros de la orquesta de LA Opera. Abierto solo para orquestas juveniles (alumnos de escuela secundaria o menores), esta es una singular oportunidad para que los estudiantes experimenten qué se siente al formar parte de una orquesta operática principal.
