Every spring, LA Opera invites all passionate and aspiring performers to join us onstage for our Community Opera at the Cathedral.

In eight weeks of rehearsal (nights and weekends), nearly 500 people come together and perform with LA Opera's professional singers and orchestra members, conducted by Music Director James Conlon. And it all happens at the exquisite Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

This season, LA Opera is reviving its successful production of The Festival Play of Daniel, an inspiring medieval musical drama which tells the beloved Old Testament story of Daniel in the lion’s den. Performances will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on May 8 and 9, 2020.

You don’t have to audition to join the ensemble (but you do need to be 11 or older). Just come ready to challenge yourself, make lifelong friends and have a truly unforgettable experience.

Join us at a required orientation at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on either:
Sunday, January 5 from 1:00 to 3:00pm or Thursday, January 9 from 6:00 to 8:00pm

More information about auditions and tickets will be coming soon. In the meantime, click here to learn more about program eligibility and here to send us an email.
