You’ve had a flight of wine. How about a flight of opera?
Admit it: you’re curious about opera. But perhaps you’re a little worried you won’t fit in or understand what’s going on. Trust us, all kinds of people attend LA Opera, and if you can read this paragraph, you can read the subtitles we provide right above the action onstage.
We admit, though, that like wine, opera can take a bit of tasting before you get completely hooked (our true intent). So we’ve carefully curated a flight of opera just for virgin taste buds and paired it with some basics to help get you started.

Join fellow Newcomers (who also want to learn what a sitzprobe is) at an informative yet fun pre-performance chat AND an exclusive intermission recpetion with free wine.
PRIORITY PURCHASING FOR ADD-ON PRESENTATIONS
Jump the queue: Newcomer subscribers receive priority purchasing for all mainstage productions and concerts/recitals/Off Grand presentations (like Psycho, Angel's Bone, Javier Camarena in Recital, and Rodelinda in Concert) before they go on sale to the public. This will give you some killer bragging rights with your friends when you get the best seats in town.
DISCOUNTED EXCHANGES
Change of plans? Looks like rain? Surprise visit from the in-laws? No problem. You can exchange your tickets into the same seating section of the theater at a different performance of the same opera for only $5 (regular ticket buyers pay $25 per ticket).*
TICKET DONATION
If you can’t make a performance of that opera, don't fret, you may donate your ticket back to LA Opera (FYI: we are a non-profit organization) for a tax-deductible donation (now it's your accountant's problem).**
EASY PAYMENT PLANS
We get it - opera can be expensive especially when buying multiple tickets in a subscription. That's where we can help! You can spread your payments out over a couple months. To set up a payment plan, please order your subscription by phone by calling the Box Office at 213.972.8001 Monday through Saturday, from 10:00am - 6:00pm (PST).
