Wagner returns to the LA Opera stage for the first time in seven years
James Conlon conducts the fabulous LA Opera Orchestra in one of Wagner’s most popular and romantic works. The fast-rising and incredible heldentenor (German for "heroic tenor") Issachah Savage stars as Tannhäuser, bringing his rare, beautiful voice to one of the most challenging roles in opera. Another highlight will be the LA Opera Chorus performing the "Pilgrim's Chorus," a piece made popular by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Abandoning an erotic entrapment with the goddess Venus, Tannhäuser returns to Earth to pursue a new path of virtue, inspired by the love of an innocent young woman. But in a momentary lapse, he shocks the town with a passionate affirmation of carnal delights. Only a miracle can redeem his soul…but will it come in time to save him?
Tickets currently available when you buy as part of a 2020/21 package.
