The Brightness of Light The Brightness of Light

Composed by Kevin Puts

Conducted by James Conlon

May 16, 2021

West Coast Premiere

At the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

A not-to-be-missed concert event!

Iconic artist Georgia O’Keeffe wrote countless letters—full of poetry, humor and passion—to her mentor and eventual husband Alfred Stieglitz. A ravishing new orchestral song cycle by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts chronicles a great artist’s turn from a painful marriage to embrace her work and the desert she cherishes.

Renée Fleming and Rod Gilfry, two of LAO's favorite soloists, are joined by James Conlon, conducting the LA Opera Orchestra.

Tickets currently available when you buy as part of a 2020/21 package.

"Puts gives us a riot of effects and moods that lend technicolor vividness to the wide-ranging settings in the text."
