Introduction to Shakespeare and Opera

Posted on: April 22, 2020

Shakespeare and Opera
for Secondary Students
This week we are excited to share lesson plans about Shakespeare from our friends at the Kennedy Center. Students in grades 9-12 will analyze form in Shakespearean sonnets, discuss rhythms in songs, and then analyze hip hop music to determine common characteristics between the Bard's work and the music of hip hop artists. Students in grades 6-8 learn to identify and analyze some of Shakespeare's most famous words and phrases.

Use these lessons to help your students prepare for our Shakespeare Sings recital series that launches April 23rd - Shakespeare's birthday.

Music and Poetry - Grades 9-12
The Poetics of Hip-Hop - Grades 9-12
A Way With Words or Say What? - Grades 6-8
