Jennifer Tipton is well known for her work in dance, theater and opera.
Her recent work in dance includes Justin Peck's Dances in the Cenotaph for Newton for New York City Ballet and Twyla Tharp's Deuce Coupe for ABT. Her recent work in theater includes To Kill a Mockingbird at the Schubert Theater, NYC, and Richard Nelson's direction of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at the Old Globe. In opera, recent credits include Sir David McVicar's Elektra at the Lyric Theater of Chicago and Bernstein's Candide at the Clarence Brown Theater in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ms. Tipton teaches lighting at the Yale School of Drama. She received the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in 2001, the Jerome Robbins Prize in 2003 and in April 2004 the Mayor’s Award for Arts and Culture in New York City. In 2008 she was made a United States Artists “Gracie” Fellow and a MacArthur Fellow.
