donating tickets as a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE gift

If you are unable to attend an opera, please consider donating your tickets to LA Opera for resale.

To donate your tickets call 213.972.8001. You will receive a receipt for this donation.  You may also mail or fax your ticket donation. Tickets must arrive one hour before curtain time on the day of the performance to be considered a donation. Donating your tickets as soon as possible will increase our chances of reselling them. The value of your tickets will be acknowledged as a charitable contribution after the performance. (This amount will not be applied toward donor benefits.)

Full Season Subscribers can exchange their tickets to a different performance of the same opera at no additional charge, or they may donate the value of their ticket back to LA Opera as a tax-deductable donation.* Select 4/5, Design-Your-Own, ARIA, Family, and Newcomer package holders can exchange for a $5 fee. If you have purchased individual tickets that are not part of a package, you can also exchange (for a $25 fee) or donate your seats back to LA Opera.

You may exchange your tickets up to 48 hours in advance of a performance online, in person, by phone, fax or email. Emergency exchanges made between 2-48 prior to a curtain can only be completed online, in person, or by fax. Additional fees, rules and/or restrictions may apply. All exchanges may be subject to a seating price increase.

Ticket exchanges may be made by calling the Box Office at 213.972.8001 ext. 0.

*Full Season Subscribers may exchange online.  Log in to your account for more information.

Ticket buyers may call 213.972.8001 for the replacement of lost or stolen tickets for a fee of $2 per ticket. For your protection, replacement tickets can only be picked up at the Box Office directly before the performance.

Bringing children to the Opera

Children 9-17 years of age often really enjoy the spectacle of opera. We offer half price tickets for this age group. We also have many other programs for families.

Since many operas contain adult subject matter, we suggest that parents check the synopsis found on the webpage for the opera they are considering or call the box office at 213.972.8001 to make sure it is suitable for their child. Our mainstage operas are not suitable for children under 9 and you will not be allowed into the theater with a very young child. Although you can watch from the lobby, you will likely enjoy the performance better if you leave the little ones at home. We have many, many other ways for you to enjoy opera with your very young child. Click here to learn how.

There are no refunds on ticket sales, but you may exchange or donate your tickets if you cannot attend a performance (see details above). Artists, prices, schedule and programs are subject to change.
