to LA Opera Board of Directors
(Los Angeles) March 17, 2016 — Plácido Domingo, LA Opera's Eli and Edythe Broad General Director, announced that Lionel M. Sauvage—the founder and chair of FLAX and a recently retired partner at Capital Group—was elected today to the company's board of directors.
"Lionel Sauvage is a welcome addition to the LA Opera board of directors," said Mr. Domingo. "I am grateful for his many years of involvement with the company, and I particularly admire his special support for our new production of Hansel and Gretel in 2006, when his children were young. I look forward to working with him in his new leadership role with us.”
"I have known Lionel for a long time and I am delighted that he has returned to Los Angeles after several years in Europe," said Marc Stern, chairman of LA Opera's board of directors. “He will be a great asset to us as we continue to shape our artistic legacy and make the company even stronger.”
Lionel M. Sauvage is the founder and chairman of FLAX, the France Los Angeles Exchange foundation, which is dedicated to developing cultural exchanges between France and Southern California. He is also a board member of the American Friends of the Louvre and a vice-chairman of the Abraham Path Initiative.
