Davinia Rodríguez began studying singing at the Conservatory in Las Palmas. She then attended the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid with Teresa Berganza and continued studying with Martina Arroyo in New York and Raina Kabaivanska in Modena. She is currently perfecting her repertory with Sylvia Sass. She emerged onto the public scene at a young age after singing in the most important Spanish theaters. In a short time she made debuts in major roles such as Despina in Così fan tutte, Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Carolina in Il Matrimonio Segreto, both Adina and Giannetta in L’Elisir d’Amore, and both Contessa di Folleville and Madama Cortese in Il Viaggio à Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
Engagements for the 2019/20 season include her role debut in Tosca with the Teatro Regio di Torino. She will also perform the leading role of Imogene in Il Pirata with the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Recent appearances include Nedda in Pagliacci at the Teatro Regio di Torino, and she has also appeared at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Theater an der Wien, Royal Opera Muscat and Teatre di San Carlo in Naples.
She has worked with conductors including Jesus Lopez Cobos, Placido Domingo, Jeffrey Tate, Alberto Zedda, Nicola Luisotti, Gianandrea Noseda, Donato Renzetti, Riccardo Frizza, to name a few. She sang the role of the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute at the Stressa Festival under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda and at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and Stuttgart Opera. She was recently acclaimed as an interpreter of Violetta in La Traviata in Bilbao, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Eurydice in Orphée et Eurydice at the Seattle Opera, Lucrezia Contarini in The Two Foscari at the Theater an der Wien, Luisa Fernanda with Placido Domingo at the Florida Grand Opera and at Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Mimì in La Bohème in Dallas and Medea at the Martina Franca Itria Valley Festival.
Her international career continued its upward trajectory with other outstanding triumphs such as her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona with Amelia in Simon Boccanegra (coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Plácido Domingo’s Spanish debut), her participation in the opening of the Spoleto Festival and at Teatro San Carlo in Naples in the role of the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro. She started the 2017/18 season as Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and sung for the first time the role of Marguerite in Faust in Modena, Reggio Emilia and Piacenza. Highlights of 2018 include her debut in China with her first Thaïs, her debut at the Royal Opera House of Muscat as Nedda in Pagliacci and her return to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Opera as Liù in Turandot.
