Opera for Educators
Teachers who complete the Opera for Educators series are eligible for LAUSD Salary Point Credit. Professional, post-baccalaureate unit credit is offered through UCLA Extension.
LA Opera's award-winning Opera for Educators series explores opera from an interdisciplinary point of view. Gain insight about opera and the historical context in which it was created. Discuss opera as history and art, as well as learn the language associated with this encompassing art form. Learn all about the stars and artists of the opera world, as well as the production and business of opera. Enjoy recitals and rehearsals, and receive special opera news updates.
Dates: All sessions take place on Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

LAUSD Salary Points:
There are two formats for earning one salary point: 15 hours of class time with 30 hours of homework/preparation, and 30 hours of class time with no homework/preparation.
For LA Opera Professional Development a total of 2 salary points are available by taking 30 hours of class time and 60 hours of homework/preparation. You can combine classes from Discover Opera and Opera for Educators to achieve the 6 classes needed.
