Opera for Educators
Teachers who complete the Opera for Educators series are eligible for LAUSD Salary Point Credit. Professional, post-baccalaureate unit credit is offered through UCLA Extension.
LA Opera's award-winning Opera for Educators series explores opera from an interdisciplinary point of view. Gain insight about opera and the historical context in which it was created. Discuss opera as history and art, as well as language and social commentary. Learn all about the stars and artists of the opera world, as well as the production and business of opera. Enjoy recitals and rehearsals, and receive special opera news updates.
Dates: All sessions take place on Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

LAUSD Salary Points:
There are two formats for earning one salary point: 15 hours of class time with 30 hours of homework/preparation, and 30 hours of class time with no homework/preparation.
For LA Opera Professional Development, 3 classes and 30 hours of homework = 1 salary point. 3 salary points are possible with this formula if you combine 9 classes from both Discover Opera and Opera for Educators, and complete 90 hours of homework
6 classes and NO homework = 1 salary point. 1 salary point is available if you combine 9 classes from both Discover Opera and Opera for Educators.
