Celebrate Our New Front Yard

Posted on: August 29, 2019

Next season is all about what’s new: from new stagings of the classics, like La Bohème and The Marriage of Figaro, to brand-new opera, like Eurydice. So it only makes sense that, to kick the 2019/20 season off right by celebrating with something else that’s all new: the new Music Center Plaza.

Now that our new plaza is open, it’ll make going to the opera even more fun. The new space will have room for 5,000 people—twice what it used to. We got rid of those small steps with your toes in mind.

Plus, there are a bunch of new places to eat (or drink) before you catch a show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The Mullin is a wine and craft cocktail-lover’s dream, featuring a rotating menu curated by Angeleno culinary experts. Coffee lovers can rejoice at LA-local coffee spot, Go Get Em Tiger. Not to mention, these both have wraparound bars, outdoor seating, and amazing views of the Music Center Plaza, Grand Park, and City Hall.

In fact, we love the new plaza so much—and we think it’s such a great symbol of our brand-new season—that we’re throwing a party. We’re celebrating our 2019/20 season on September 14 (opening night for La Bohème) with a starlit bash on the new plaza. And it’s not just a party—it’s also a fundraiser for all of our incredible LA Opera programs, from world-class performances to in-school operas made by elementary schoolers. If you’re as excited as we are for all these new beginnings, and want to show your support for the arts and opera in LA, come join us. It’ll be a perfect way to show your love for the opera, the plaza, and everything else that makes LA Opera uniquely Los Angeles. We’ll see you next season on the plaza.
