What programs have you been involved in with LA Opera Connects

I have participated in Cast to Class, Community Educator TalksOpera Prepand Secondary In-School Opera.

What is your favorite memory from this year?
My favorite memoryfrom the Secondary In-School Opera programwas how Eli would give examples of how he wanted things performed and the kids would erupt in laughter. Then, they would take that laughter and try ridiculous things to make the performance better.

What are you most proud of accomplishing this year?
My proudest accomplishment this year was when we premiered four newly commissioned pieces. These pieces were composed by Los Angeles natives and performed by the LACES High School Choir and the LACES Advanced Orchestra.

What are you most proud of your students accomplishing this year?
I am most proud of my students this year for fighting through the pandemic, while continuing to learn and move forward with their education. They have been submitting videos for virtual choir projects, sending in music theory assignments, and holding restorative justice circles to reassure one another that they are in this together and to keep sense of family in their ensembles.
