Exploring Opera Styles: Verismo
for Elementary and Secondary Students (best suited to students in grades 5-12)
These Common Core-aligned lessons introduce students to the style of verismo opera and, in particular, Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana. Based on the plots, students analyze the themes and characteristics of verismo opera and decide what similar topics would be today.
