Name: Xochitl Hernandez

Major: Vocal Arts
Opera Activities: Xochitl has been an intern for LA Opera Connects, a member of the College Advisory Committee, and a volunteer at Saturday Mornings at the Opera. She has been involved with LA Opera’s Opera Camp, Opera for Educators, Community Educator trainings, and OperaWise.
Opera Character: Xochitl chose to recreate this scene from Eurydice because it gave her a good excuse to wear her favorite gown. Xochitl added that she felt deeply connected to Eurydice because she participated in many of the Eurydice Found Festival events. Xochitl says, “This scene, when Eurydice is on the elevator, is my favorite scene because it was actually raining onstage!”
Opera Future: This summer, Xochitl will participate in the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music Program at Salzburg. After that, she hopes to perform her graduation recital which was postponed due to the pandemic. Xochitl’s dream is to sing the lead roles in Carmen and Samson et Delila, and to perform many Zarzuela operas.
