Opera for Educators 20-21

We are eager to do all that is necessary to ensure the safety of our fellow community members, staff, artists, educators, and students.

Generous support for LA Opera professional development programs from
Susan Zolla, in memory of Edward M. Zolla

*Regrettably, this program was originally listed as "Madame Butterfly," without explanation as to the programming we intended, which was to address racism and sexism in opera. Thanks to outreach from community members, we decided we needed to give our planned program more time and thought, and have postponed it.  We are very grateful to those reached out to express their concern with our programming, as we genuinely strive to embrace and celebrate all cultures. Given the history of opera and institutional racism, we understand why our listing caused concern. It was insensitive of us. We will do better.
