Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and San Francisco Opera’s Schwabacher Award, American baritone LeRoy Villanueva was also the first recipient of the Lotos Foundation Award, earning him his debut at Carnegie Hall. LeRoy has sung principal roles in major opera houses and theaters around the world, including such places as San Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Montreal, Toronto, Michigan, Austin, New York, Geneva, Israel, Miami, Dresden, Santiago de Chile, Lisbon, Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rome, Monte Carlo, Cologne, and Auckland. He has sung with major orchestras in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago, and with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Boston Pops, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. LeRoy’s recording credits include most notably — the title role of Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno D’Ulisse in Patria under the Nuova Era label. LeRoy and his brother Eli Villanueva have written three children’s operas for LA Opera Connects, including Figaro's American Adventure (published by Cherry Lane Music), The Marriage of Figueroa, and The Legend of Cannery Row.
