Opera Camp 2020 marks Aleta Braxton's first time working as a teaching artist for LA Opera Connects. LA Opera's production of El Gato Montes in 2019 marked her 150th production with LA Opera. She’s now up to 156. She performed in LA Opera's 1986 inaugural production of Otello. Other productions including Candide, The Magic Flute, Don Carlo, La Bohème and the Grammy-Winning recordings of Aknhaten and The Ghosts of Versalles. She toured as a soloist with the Roger Wagner Chorale, McNeil Jubilee Singers and has sung with the LA Master Chorale for several seasons as a chorister and soloist. Her list of film soundtracks include The Lego Movie 2, Venum, Bumblebee, The Predator, Ready Player One, Star Wars: Rogue One, and Frozen. TV appearances include Malcom in the Middle, The Crazy Ones and Glee. Ms. Braxton has also directed productions for Lyric Opera of Los Angeles including the West Coast premiere of Wagner's first opera Die Feen. Her voice can be heard on recordings with Walt Disney Records and recordings with Barbara Streisand, Christina Aguilera and Josh Groban. She is currently one of the cantors at St. Charles Borromeo in North Hollywood and is the choir director at New Hope Lutheran Church in Agoura Hills. As a music instructor, she is teaching vocal fundamentals and sight-singing at The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
