There are several opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to join LA Opera for an experience you will never forget and can't find anywhere else.

See what it takes to put an opera production together by attending an orchestra tech rehearsal with Operawise. See a live mainstage performance with your peers at our special Opera U ticket price. Let us be the entertainment at your next campus special event, with a recital or master class. Get valuable and practical experience as part of our administrative team with an internship.

Opera combines the greatest stories told with the greatest music, and we have a seat waiting for you!

Undergraduate and graduate students are given an inside look on how an opera production is created by attending an LA Opera orchestra technical rehearsal on the mainstage. This program is free of charge and professors may apply by submitting an application below.

This experience may be enhanced by having an LA Opera Community Educator visit the classroom to further prepare the students and give them an insider’s look at the opera.

Students may only attend as part of a professor-led group.

Rehearsal viewings can be further enhanced with a visit from LA Opera's Community Educators. There are also possibilities of meeting with LA Opera staff members during the visit.

OPERAWISE EXTENSION

Students are invited to an exclusive BACKSTAGE TOUR and a career connection WORKSHOP/PRE-TALK.
This program is tailored for students interested in the production process, and provides access to the design and technical theater professionals working at LA Opera. Professors will be able to sign up to bring a maximum of 25 students (for the pre-talk & backstage tour) as limited space will be available. Students will attend the orchestra tech rehearsal following the tour.

OUR POLICY


IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING OPERA U
Opera U is available to College and University students who register through our online registration. All students must log in using their user name, password, and the Opera U promotion code they receive via email to purchase tickets.

Each student must present a valid student I.D. when retrieving his/her ticket from Will Call the night of the performance. If a valid student ID is not presented or the name on the ID does not match the name on the account which purchased the tickets, the Box Office has the right to refuse entrance to the performance and refund your money.

Tickets are NOT transferable to another party.
Opera U tickets are sold at the discretion of the Box Office, who determines the performances, locations and number of tickets offered.

Faculty members are allowed one ticket at the Opera U price ONLY when they organize a group of 15 or more full-time students for the same performance.

In conjunction with our graduate and undergraduate student opportunities, LA Opera can bring special events to campuses, including opera recitals and master classes with LA Opera artists. Our programs can be further enriched by a variety of support materials and visits from our volunteer Community Educators.

There are no Master Classes scheduled at this time.

College Advisory Committee

The College Advisory Committee is all about communication – if you enjoy marketing, community engagement, public relations, arts education, music, and/or theater then this is definitely a committee to join. The Committee works closely with LA Opera staff helping shape the company’s future college programming while acting as ambassadors for opera on their campuses. The committee is open to graduate and undergraduate students. Committee members will have access to exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences, as well as other opportunities for professional development.
