About the Opportunity
LA Opera is seeking a temporary Production, Stock, and Rental Coordinator. This is a full-time temporary position, and the duration is anticipated to be three to four months, starting early September 2021.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Oversees local/domestic/international shipping
- Purchases shop fabrics, notions, and supplies
- Prepares a detailed schedule for each opera production for the transportation of all costume items between the costume shop, rehearsal location, outside contractors, and the theater ensuring deadlines are met.
- Communicates with rental companies about costume building, supervisor travel, and costume shipments
- Schedules and coordinates costume dry cleaning
This is a full-time, temporary position based at the LA Opera Costume Shop in Downtown Los Angeles, with an hourly rate of $26.02.
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking an individual with at least two years of experience relevant to the Production, Stock, and Rental Coordinator role. This position is responsible for overseeing protocols and procedures for costume and stock management and reports directly to the Costume Director, supervises the Warehouse Manager and Production Assistants, and collaborates with key Costume Shop, Wardrobe, and Opera staff.
Successful candidates will possess knowledge of theatrical period and costume construction in addition to alteration methods, have experience working with and creating costume dressing lists and packing lists, as well as meet wardrobe and laundry requirements. Additionally, successful candidates will have experience with warehouse organization, working with and creating costume dressing and packing lists, have an understanding of petty cash procedures and purchase transactions, and be knowledgeable with shipping documents (e.g., invoices, BOLs, carnets). Finally, it is imperative that candidates possess organizational skills, have the ability to multi-task, work in a professional manner with creative teams and performers, have excellent time management and communication skills, be computer literate, and have experience working with figures and spreadsheets.
The right person for this role will work well with limited supervision and thrive in a fast-paced costume shop.
