LA Opera (LAO) is a mission-driven, non-profit organization that plays a significant role in the cultural life of Southern California. Hundreds of LAO employees and artists help bring to life world-class opera that preserves, promotes and advances the art form while embodying the diversity, pioneering spirit and artistic sensibility unique to Los Angeles. Our productions are experienced by more than 100,000 audience members each year at our home at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. We reach many more through our community and school programs, Off Grand performances in venues across Los Angeles, and On Now digital content.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Marketing Assistant to provide support with various financial, promotional, and administrative aspects of the Marketing and Communications departments. Reporting to the Associate Director of Advertising, Partnerships & Promotions this position provides administrative support in various areas including:

  • Financial: Expense and budget tracking, invoice processing, monthly budget reconciliation.
  • Advertising: Assisting in the delivery and trafficking of advertising collateral to advertisers and vendors.
  • Events and Promotions: Assisting in the coordination and execution of events for LA Opera subscribers and audiences.
  • Other: Assisting with tracking press coverage, the building and deploying of marketing emails, and other items to support the Marketing and Communications teams.

This is a full-time, overtime-eligible position with benefits. Our Marketing and Communications teams are based at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. The normal schedule for this position is Monday through Friday and will also include occasional work during performances on evenings and weekends.

Who we’re looking for
We are seeking an individual with some previous finance- or marketing-related administrative experience and a strong aptitude for learning new processes and applications. Prior experience in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel is essential, as is the ability to learn new programs quickly. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience working with budgets and possess the ability to accurately track and code expenses, as well as be organized, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as a team.
