LA Opera is seeking a Cutter/Draper for its 2021/22 season. This is a full-time seasonal and salaried position with benefits, with approximately 42 weeks of employment anticipated from Spring 2021 to Spring 2022.

We are seeking an individual with at least several years of experience as a cutter in a professional costume shop and experience running a crew of first hands, second hands and seamsters. 

Successful candidates will:

  • have an extensive knowledge of patterning and construction, period costumes, fabrics and fibers, sewing machine operation and hand sewing techniques
  • be able to work with creative teams and performers using independent creative ability and artistic judgment to satisfy the needs of each production
  • have excellent time management skills and the ability to plan workloads and meet deadlines
  • possess effective communication and organization skills
