Aida Casting Notice

CASTING CHILDREN
LA Opera is casting 10 child supernumeraries. Children must have acting and dance experience. Children will play male characters between the ages of 9-17. Ideal candidates will be within the height range of 4’4” – 5’10” and have demonstrable experience in any of the following art forms: parkour, gymnastics, and/or martial arts.
SCHEDULE*
Costume Fittings: February 21-23, 2022
Staging Rehearsals Begin: April 26, 2022
Onstage Rehearsals: May 11, 12, 14, 18
Performances: May 21 & 29(matinee), June 2, 4**, 9**, 12(matinee)**
A full rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition.
CONTRACT
Non-Union Contract: $20/hour rehearsals; $85/performance including final dress rehearsal.
Parking and program credit provided.
All contracts are local; housing and per diem are not provided.
AUDITION*
Date: Saturday, January 29, 2022
Time: 1pm; Please arrive by 12:45pm and be prepared to stay for at least three hours
Studio available for warmup at 12pm
Location: Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Downtown Los Angeles)
Bring: Photo & Resume
Wear: Form fitting dance attire. Layers to warm up in are recommended.
Parking: Provided
COVID-19 Policy: Prior to the audition, participants (including parents/guardians) will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined in LA Opera’s vaccination policy; further instructions will be provided prior to the audition. (See note below.)
Audition participants will also be subject to other COVID-related protocols in LA Opera’s then-current health and safety plan, which may include and not be limited to a requirement to take a COVID diagnostic test prior to the audition. More information will be provided closer to the audition. Masks will be worn by participants for the entire duration of the audition.

Schedule is subject to change. Children must be nine years of age or older by February 19, 2022. If cast, children must apply for an Entertainment Work Permit (no charge) and set up a Coogan (blocked minor trust) Account, if they do not already have one.
