A native of Vancouver, Lisa Sutton studied at the Vancouver Academy where she was a student of Canadian virtuoso Steven Staryk.

She later received a master's degree from the Yale School of Music, studying with Broadus Erle, Syoko Aki and Szymon Goldberg. Professionally, she has been a member of the Houston Symphony and Grand Opera, and was for many years the associate concertmaster of the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina. After moving to Los Angeles she became a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and subsequently the LA Opera Orchestra. As a freelance musician she has performed on numerous television and motion picture soundtracks for composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner and Alexandre Desplat.

Lisa Sutton is the founder and artistic director of Pittance Chamber Music, which presents members of the LA Opera Orchestra in local chamber music concerts.
