Michael Yeargan has designed LAO productions of Hansel and Gretel, Stiffelio, The Merry Widow, Nabucco, Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra and Madama Butterfly.

His set designs for plays and musicals include Seascape, The Light in the Piazza, South Pacific, Awake and Sing, Ah, Wilderness (originally designed for Yale Repertory Theatre) and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone (which also originated at Yale Rep), all on Broadway, as well as numerous productions Off-Broadway and in regional theaters throughout the United States.

His opera sets have been seen at the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Festival and New York City Opera, as well as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Frankfurt Opera and Opera Australia. He is the winner of two Tony Awards, for The Light in the Piazza in 2005 and for South Pacific in 2008.
