Soprano Sarah Vautour makes her LA Opera debut as the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel. She earned her master’s degree at Rice University, where she performed scenes as Ann Truelove in The Rake’s Progress, Gilda in Rigoletto and Norina in Don Pasquale.
Her notable performances also include the title role in Maria Stuarda and Morgana in Handel’s Alcina with CCM Opera d’arte .
She made her Aspen Music Festival debut in the dual role of Mozart / Donna Anna in the fully-staged premiere of Stephen Stucky’s The Classical Style, under the baton of Robert Spano. She also sang the role of Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene with Harrower Opera.
In the 2017/18 season, she appeared with the Rice Chorale under the baton of Thomas Jaber as the soprano soloist in the Poulenc Gloria and with the Houston Masterworks Chorus as the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah. She also performed with pianist Elizabeth Buccheri in Aspen’s Harris Hall as part of the Aspen Chamber Series.
In the summer of 2018, she joins the Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Program, where she will cover Adele in Die Fledermaus and appear in scenes performing the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Birdie Hubbard in Marc Blitzstein's Regina and Countess Adèle in Le comte Ory.
