Baritone Juan Carlos Heredia joined the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist for the 2017/18 season, appearing as Moralès in Carmen and Marullo in Rigoletto. He was a 2016 winner of Operalia, where he was awarded the Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize for Zarzuela.

In the summer of 2018, he will perform Figaro in The Barber of Seville with the Aspen Music Festival.

Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, he began his musical training as a classical guitarist. He began his vocal studies in 2011.

His operatic repertoire includes Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème, Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore and Enrico in Lucia di Lamermoor, Mercutio in Romeo et Juliette, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Junius in The Rape of Lucretia, and the roles of General and Sargento in the world première of Georgina Derbez’s opera La Creciente. He also has sung Orff´s Carmina Burana and Mahler's Lieder eines farhenden Gesellen.

He has sung in the Moscow Conservatory´s Grand Hall with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. In Mexico, he has sung at the major theaters including Palacio de Bellas Artes and also has participated in most of the national and international festivals from Mexico as Cervantino, Alfonso Ortíz Tirado, Pitic, FICMaya.

He has shared stage with the singers Ramón Vargas, Arturo Chacón, Erika Grimaldi, Christopher Maltman, Irina Dubrovskaya, Maria Katzarava.

Competition prizes include both the first and second prizes in the Maritza Alemán Vocal Competition in the years 2013 and 2014; the Gilda Morelli prize at the Carlo Morelli National Vocal Competition in 2013; the second overall prize and the Ópera de Bellas Artes special prize at the 2014 Carlo Morelli competition.

He was a participant in the sic itur ad astra (siaa) Foundation in Liechtenstein.
