Baritone Theo Hoffman joins LA Opera's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program in the 2016/17 season. During the 2015/16 season, he sang Papageno in The Magic Flute and the Director in Poulenc's Les Mamelles de Tirésias at Juilliard and debuted with the Atlanta Opera as Schaunard in La Bohème. Previously at Juilliard, he performed the Count in The Marriage of Figaro and Bob in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, and he also covered the role of Tarquinius in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia. He is a regular with New York Festival of Song, and performed Juilliard's 2015 Honors Recital.
In the summer of 2017, he will appear with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as Joseph K. in the U.S. premiere of The Trial by Philip Glass.
He made his professional debut with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, covering Major-General Stanely in The Pirates of Penzance and Tomeš in Smetana's The Kiss, and he returned to cover Papageno. During the 2014/15 season, he made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Cecilia Chorus of New York in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy and joined the Portland Symphony Orchestra as the Jailer in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites.
