A native of Olathe, Kansas, Aurelia Andrews is a highly sought after vocal pianist. As a member of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artists program, she has served as pianist for The Tales of Hoffmann, The Abduction from the Seraglio and Akhnaten. In the 2017/18 season, she will be playing for The Pearl Fishers, Candide, Orpheus and Eurydice and Rigoletto.
In her two summers with The Glimmerglass Festival, she served as pianist for Xerxes, Oklahoma!, Robin Hood, The Thieving Magpie, Sweeney Todd, and Wilde Tales. She was a pianist for the Butler Opera Center’s productions of Ariadne auf Naxos, Into the Woods, The Marriage of Figaro, Hänsel and Gretel, Heggie’s Three Decembers, and Dialogues des Carmélites. She has worked with conductors James Conlon, Placido Domingo performed in master classes for Warren Jones, Martin Katz, Donald Palumbo, and Margo Garrett, countertenor David Daniels, composer Jake Heggie, and director Paul Curran, as well as renowned teachers Stephen King, Steve Smith, Vinson Cole, and Darrell Babidge.
In Arezzo, Italy, as a coaching fellow with Oberlin in Italy, Aurelia coached La Finta Giardiniera, Don Giovanni, and L’Elisir d’Amore, and worked with coaches Enza Ferrari and Danielle Orlando. She has also been a participant in the Aspen Music Festival where she studied under Anne Epperson.
Prior to her graduate work, Aurelia served as the musical director for Brigham Young University’s productions of The Mikado and Béatrice et Bénédict, assistant coach for The Magic Flute and musical director for Utah Lyric Opera’s Cosí fan tutte.
She received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University, and a Masters of Music in Opera Coaching from the University of Texas at Austin.
