Trumpeter Ryan Darke enjoys a diverse career as a performer and educator. He recently accepted the position of Principal Trumpet with the LA Opera Orchestra under James Conlon. He is also honored to be the new Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the Fred Fox School of Music, at the University of Arizona (U of A), where he is heavily invested in his students and the institution.
He completed one year of his fellowship with the New World Symphony, under the artistic direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, before joining the LA Opera Orchestra. He has found success playing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Auckland Philharmonia, Malaysia Philharmonic, Stavanger Philharmonic, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra and in Los Angeles with the new music ensemble wildUp.
Over the past few years he has worked with many of the world’s great conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, James Conlon, Michael Tilson Thomas, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Marin Alsop, Louis Langree and Esa Pekka Salonen. He also has enjoyed working closely with Christoph Eschenbach while serving two years as principal trumpet at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. While residing in Germany he was featured playing Mahler's Fifth Symphony, among other large works, during several international tours.
