Polish-born soprano Aleksandra Kurzak made her professional opera debut at the age of 21 at the Wroclaw State Opera as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro. Between 2001 and 2007, she was a member of the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera, where she sang numerous roles, including Susanna, the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Blonde in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Nanetta in Falstaff, Gilda in Rigoletto and Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment.

In 2004 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann. In the same season she debuted at the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden as Aspasia in Mitridate, Re di Ponto. She returned to the Met, singing Blonde in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Gilda in Rigoletto and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Since her first London appearance, she has returned regularly to the Royal Opera House, where she has performed the roles of Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in The Elixir of Love, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Susanna, the title role of Matilde di Shabran, achieving a real triumph on this stage, and most recently the roles of Gilda in Rigoletto and Donna Fiorilla in The Turk in Italy.

In 2010, she made her debut at the Teatro alla Scala as Gilda in Rigoletto, returning in the 2011/12 season as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro and in the 2013/14 season as the Countess in Le Comte Ory. She recently successfully debuted the title role of Maria Stuarda at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

She has appeared as well at the Staatsoper in Berlin, Teatro Regio in Parma, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Finnish National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opernhaus Zurich, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Salzburg Festival, Palau de les Arts in Valencia and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, National Opera House in Warsaw, Teatro Regio in Torino, Welsh National Opera, Theater an der Wien, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Seattle Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Arena di Verona, Los Angeles Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Her plans in the 2015/16 season include the debut at Opéra Bastille as Adina, a role she will also sing at the Metropolitan Opera, Norina in Zurich, Lucia at the Royal Opera House, and a debut as Princess Eudoxie in La Juive at the Bavarian State Opera.
