On Saturday, September 13, La Traviata, one of the most beloved and romantic of all operas, launched the season with an incomparable cast, led by our own Plácido Domingo in his first Los Angeles performance as Giorgio Germont and the dazzling Nino Machaidze in her role debut as Violetta, under the inspired baton of James Conlon.
We celebrated this dazzling opening night with a glamorous Opera Ball that transported guests back to the stylish world of the Roaring Twenties, the inspiration for stage director Marta Domingo’s production. Patrons, celebrities, members of LA Opera's ARIA Young Professionals group, and cast enjoyed inspired cocktails, flapper girls, and entertainment from the era.
The evening was a truly memorable and splendid affair. Opera Ball guests walked the red carpet and began the evening with an elegant champagne reception, followed by the performance and a spectacular dinner by Patina. The night of enchantment continued into the late evening hours with cocktails and dancing.
