DNTLA goes luxury

 Guerilla Atelier

Style fit for seeing opera in L.A. from Guerilla Atelier

While on the search for new DNTLA shopping and anything that (quietly) screams minimalism or Einstein on the Beach, we made a happy discovery in the downtown Arts District.  The newly-opened Guerilla Atelier by Carl Louisville filled the order.

Originally launched as a 30-day Arts District pop-up store, Guerilla Atelier is becoming a fixture in the neighborhood sending a signal to other luxury merchants that they might want to uproot themselves from Beverly Hills if they’re serious about L.A.

Reminiscent of the 19th century Paris salons, it has the ambiance of a present day Paris boutique. Louisville has created a destination for luxury shopping, deep conversation and regular gatherings celebrating other things worth loving like great food and beautiful music.  Don’t be too surprised if LA Opera shows up at a future soiree with opera singers in tow.

L.A.'s fashion personality is multi-faceted.  We like our drama and red carpets but there's also a cool style inspired by comfort and minimalist ideals.  Photographer Marco Schillaci captured 22 talented and creative Angelenos sporting bags by Kao Pao Shu and their own style that we'd like to call "Einstein-approved."

"A moving spectacle of ordered geometry"

Einstein on the Beach popped up as one of the inspirations for Marc Jacobs' spring-summer 2013 Louis Vuitton runway show.  We're not surprised since Robert Wilson lent his creative vision to a past Louis Vuitton accessories line and recently collaborated with the fashion stirrer-upper, Lady Gaga.  The red carpet arrival photo area at LA Opera should prove to be a proper Los Angeles fashion spectacle of its own this weekend when Einstein on the Beach arrives...we'll post pics.

Opulence for a Aria that is

Christian Siriano

Christian Sirano, winner of Project Runway, revealed his Fall 2013 collection theme last week -- dressing for an evening at a Russian opera.  Inspired by a book on Russian opera houses, he created a wardrobe complete with day looks, cocktail dresses, performance night attire right down to the glamorous shoes.

We love the theme of course and surprised to find the shoe collection seen on the runway coming to Payless Shoe Source of all places. Just in time for Carmen this fall!
