Saturday Mornings At The Opera

LA Opera thinks you're never too young to enjoy the classics. With that in mind, we are proud to present two Saturday morning, hour-long, interactive performances. Delight in familiar arias and wander through enchanting tales of adventure in both original works and beloved favorites adapted for children. 

Fun and creative workshops for children before each performance add to the excitement and prepare the audience with art and music-making activities.


Figaro's American Adventure

FEBRUARY 4, 2017 
Figaro's American Adventure is a wildly imaginative and engaging celebration of Rossini’s opera, The Barber of Seville, composed and directed by Eli Villanueva with a libretto by LeRoy VillanuevaChildren are transported to colonial America where, with his band of sneaky barbers and colonial compatriots, Figaro leads us on a delightful musical goose chase. Ultimately, he outsmarts his adversary and love triumphs as he helps his friend the Count win the hand of his beloved Rosina.

Perfect for the whole family, Puccini Opera Tales is an entertaining introduction to the wonderful stories and melodies of one of opera's most beloved composers, Giacomo Puccini. With humor and heart, Opera Tales celebrates the power of story and music wedded together. Travel with our "opera pals" from LA Opera through the magical moments of some of Puccini's greatest stories:
The Girl of the Golden West, Turandot, and Gianni Schicchi.

Performances: 11:00am (Running time is one hour.)
Location: Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center

Tickets are $15. ALL children, regardless of age, must have a ticket to attend the performance. There is a 10 ticket maximum per household.
