Helene Urigu Quintana, proud LA Opera Chorus member of 17 years, was born in Patagonia in Argentina. She is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires with an M.A. in piano performance and M.A. with honors in harpsichord performance. She has dedicated over 30 years to studying the art of classical singing. She has soloed several times with the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the baton of maestros Paul Salammunovich and Grant Gershon, most recently in Messiah, Whitacre’s Cloudburst and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Magnificat. She recently she sang the role of Ines in Il Trovatore at the National Opera Theatre, Georgia and, for LA Opera, the Second Bridesmaid in The Marriage of Figaro, the Second Dove in The Birds and a Lady in Nicholas and Alexandra, and she also covered the roles of Rosita and Mariana in Luisa Fernanda. She has an active voice studio in Glendale, where she resides with her husband and 16-year-old daughter.
