Tenor Frederick Ballentine, a native of Virginia, was an inaugural member of Houston Grand Opera's Young Artist Vocal Academy and an Eleanor McCollum Competition semi-finalist. He is also a winner of the University of Cincinnati’s prestigious Corbett Competition. He has been a participant of the Wolf Trap Opera’s Studio Artist program, where he covered the title role in The Rake’s Progress and Anthony in Sweeney Todd, and a member of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis’s Gerdine Young Artist program, where in 2014 he will cover the role of Tamino and sing the First Armed Man in Isaac Mizrahi’s highly anticipated production of The Magic Flute, under the baton of Jane Glover. Concert appearances include Beethoven’s 9th symphony with the Naples Philharmonic, and Handel's Messiah with Rice University and Virginia Beach Symphonicity.
