Native Californian Catherine Miller Popovic is currently on music staff for the Los Angeles Opera, where she is the Chorus pianist and a frequent lecturer/recitalist for the Educational Department. She also serves as the Artistic Consultant for the Pasadena Opera Guild. Internationally, she has been a music staff member at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago, Chile, the Lucca Opera Theater and the Spoleto Festival in Italy. She has worked with the National Children’s Choir, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Opera Pacific, the Santa Fe Opera, the San Diego Opera Ensemble, and as an apprentice coach with the San Francisco Opera Centers’ Merola Program she participated in the Western Opera Theater’s National Tour. In addition to her work as an operatic vocal coach and piano teacher, Ms. Miller is an accomplished organist and is currently the organist for St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, North Hollywood. Active as a competition accompanist, Ms. Miller has played for the Operalia World Voice Competition, the Jose Iturbi International Competition, for the Metropolitan Opera Competition for the Los Angeles District. A graduate of the U.S.C. School of Music and the Juilliard School, she was also a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary.
