Since the 1966 world premiere of D.H. Lawrence’s trilogy of plays (Royal Court, with Peter Gill), costume designer Deirdre Clancy has been at the heart of mainstream theater and opera with well over 100 productions in Europe, North America, Japan and Australia. She was awarded the Olivier Award for Best Costume Design for Love’s Labour’s Lost for the RSC. Notable productions include Così fan tutte (Metropolitan Opera), Wild Honey with Ian McKellen (National Theatre, Broadway), Simon Boccanegra (Covent Garden and Washington), A Doll’s House with Janet McTeer and The Master Builder with Patrick Stewart. Her films include Mrs. Brown (BAFTA Award, Best Costume Design) with Judi Dench and The Clandestine Marriage with Joan Collins and Nigel Hawthorne. She designed the costumes for RSC's All's Well that Ends Well starring Dame Judi Dench, and Romeo and Juliet directed by Peter Gill. She has designed costumes for LA Opera’s productions of The Marriage of Figaro and Die Gezeichneten (The Stigmatized).
