Greek conductor Constantinos Carydis conducted the Frankfurt Opera’s double-bill of Dido and Aeneas and Bluebeard's Castle in a 2013 guest appearance at the Edinburgh Festival, after previously conducting that production premiere in Frankfurt in 2010. Other recent performances include The Rake's Progress in Frankfurt, The Tales of Hoffmann at the Bavarian State Opera and Don Giovanni at the Munich Opera Festival. He conducted Carmen at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, recently released as the first 3D opera on Blu-ray. In 2011, he was honored with the Carlos Kleiber Award 2011, which he was presented in Munich's Nationaltheater. This prize, sponsored by the "Friends of the Nationaltheater" and the Bavarian State Opera, honors young conductors who have particularly distinguished themselves in Munich.
