Peter Tantsits first attracted international attention in his debut at Teatro alla Scala under Lorin Maazel and has been named one of his generation’s most consistently satisfying contemporary vocal music specialists by Opera magazine. His repertoire includes new works in addition to roles by Rameau, Mozart, Britten, Ravel, Janáček, Berg, Strauss and Ligeti, and he sings Rossini’s La Cenerentola for the first time this season for the Stadttheater Bern. He has worked closely with Irish composer Gerald Barry as John Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest in London, Dublin, Belfast and Cork, and in The Triumph of Beauty and Deceit at the Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe. He has received acclaim with the London Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra and American Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared several times with the New York Philharmonic, most notably in the New York premiere of Ligeti’s Le Grand Macabre.
